New medical advisory team for LSN
The LSN has secured the help and support of a new multi-disciplinary team of advisors
A multi-disciplinary team of advisors has been formulated to ensure that the LSN is equipped to make certain the information that we are able to offer both our members and the wider lymphoedema population is robust; that we are appraised of current and future developments in the management of and research into lymphoedema and that we remain in a position to call upon relevant expertise to respond in a timely and efficient manner to relevant campaigns, political arguments and changes in legislation and health policy.
The members of the advisory team are Dr Vaughan Keeley, Consultant in Palliative Medicine; Dr Andrew Hughes, Consultant in Palliative Medicine; Mr Alex Munnoch, Consultant Plastic Surgeon specialising in liposuction; Mr Stan Kholhart, Breast Surgeon; Professor Christine Moffatt, International Lymphoedema Framework; Dr Jacquelyne Todd, Physiotherapist Consultant – Lymphoedema; Dr Donald Sharp, Consultant Clinical Psychologist. They have all been invited based on their area of specialism and their interest in the condition. The advisory team will work under the direction of the Board of Trustees of the LSN, the LSN Nurse Advisor, Denise Hardy, and LSN’s Chief Medical Advisor, Professor Peter Mortimer.
Whilst the team will not be able to respond to individual patient queries, we will be asking members of the advisory team to read and comment on information produced by the LSN that is relevant to their areas of expertise, to keep the LSN appraised of any developments in their field which may be of interest or help to our members and to be available to comment on campaigns, political arguments and changes to legislation on our behalf, should they be invited by the LSN to do so.
One of the issues that has impressed groups from other countries is the ability of the LSN to work effectively with healthcare professionals and it is a testament to the professionalism of the charity that all advisors readily agreed to support the LSN.
Our grateful thanks go to all members of the advisory team for their help and support to the LSN!
